The Ministry of Law and Justice has notified the appointment of nine additional judges of the Allahabad High Court as permanent judges.
The nine judges who have been confirmed as permanent members of the High Court are:
- Justice Syed Qamar Hasan Rizvi
- Justice Manish Kumar Nigam
- Justice Anish Kumar Gupta
- Justice Nand Prabha Shukla
- Justice Kshitij Shailendra
- Justice Vinod Diwakar
- Justice Prashant Kumar
- Justice Manjive Shukla
- Justice Arun Kumar Singh Deshwal
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended for their permanent appointment on August 13. Prior to this, the High Court Collegium had proposed these appointments on May 28. This recommendation received approval from both the Chief Minister and the Governor of Uttar Pradesh.
Subsequently, judges of the Supreme Court who were well-acquainted with the workings of the Allahabad High Court were consulted. They confirmed that all the recommended judges were deemed fit and appropriate for confirmation as permanent judges.
The notification dated August 21, 2024 read, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint S/Shri Justices (i) Syed Qamar Hasan Rizvi, (ii) Manish Kumar Nigam, (iii) Anish Kumar Gupta, (iv) Ms. Nand Prabha Shukla, (v) Kshitij Shailendra, (vi) Vinod Diwakar, (vii) Prashant Kumar, (viii) Manjive Shukla and (ix) Arun Kumar Singh Deshwal, Additional Judges of the Allahabad High Court, to be Judges of that High Court with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.”
