Update: 2022-05-24 13:00 GMT

A video of two women offering Namaz inside the Karnataka High Court, on what appears to be a Judge's podium, has gone viral on social media.

The Karnataka High Court has filed a complaint against videography inside the High Court premises and an FIR No. 37/2022 was registered on May 16 at the Vidhana Soudha Police station in Bangaluru City.

The FIR has been registered at the instance of N. G. Dinesh, the Registrar (Computers), in the High Court. The FIR has been registered under Sections 447 (criminal trespass) and 505(2) (promoting enmity, hatred or ill will between classes) of the IPC. The FIR mentions SAMVADA, a youtube channel that published the 1.48-minute video.

It is not known who the two women in the video are and no action is known to have been taken against them.

On May, 20 Advocate Putteraiah R. sent a complaint to the Chief Justice and the Registrar General of the High Court seeking appropriate action against the women for "illegally using podium/dias of Hon'ble Justice for their religious purpose".

The Advocate says in his complaint that he has watched the video which shows that "2 persons are illegally using the Hon'ble Judges podium/dias for their religious purpose". He says that the podium is exclusively used by Judges to deliver Justice.

The Advocate has also forwarded a compact disc containing the video along with his complaint.

The video is still available on Twitter, where it has been published by Mohan Gowda, the State Spokesperson, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Karnataka State, alleging that it is a misuse of the High Court premises.
