SC Collegium Recommends Elevation Of Advocates As Judges For Bombay, Allahabad High Courts

The Supreme Court Collegium recommended the elevation of Advocate Pravin Sheshrao Patil to the position of a judge at the Bombay High Court.

This decision was made during a Collegium meeting on December 22, 2024. The recommendations were made by the Collegium, which was headed by Chief Justice of India, Sanjiv Khanna.

The Notification dated December 22, 2024 read, “The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 22nd December, 2024 has approved the proposal for appointment of Shri Pravin Sheshrao Patil, Advocate, as a Judge of the High Court of Bombay.”

Additionally, the Collegium approved the appointment of Advocate Praveen Kumar Giri as a judge of the Allahabad High Court. The Allahabad High Court is functioning with 81 judges against its sanctioned strength of 160, resulting in a vacancy of 79 judges.

The notification dated December 22, 2024 read, “The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 22nd December, 2024 has approved the proposal for appointment of Shri Praveen Kumar Giri, Advocate, as a Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad.”
