Breaking: Complaint Filed Against Rahul Gandhi For Tweeting Visuals Of Hearing Before Karnataka High Court

Update: 2022-07-06 09:35 GMT

A complaint has been filed against Rahul Gandhi for tweeting the visuals of a hearing before the Karnataka High Court. Gandhi had yesterday tweeted the visuals of Justice H. P. Sandesh remarking during a hearing that he was threatened with transfer for considering a matter relating to corruption.

"HC judge has been threatened for exposing BJP's corrupt govt in Karnataka. Institution after institution is being bulldozed by the BJP. Each of us must stand with those fearlessly doing their duty. #DaroMat", Rahul Gandhi had tweeted yesterday along with a video of the hearing before the High Court on Zoom platform.

The complainant, Girish Bharadwaj, an activist from Karnataka has alleged that Gandhi's actions amount to contempt of Court.

The Complaint has been addressed to the Registrar General of the Karnataka High Court. It is alleged in the complaint that unauthorized use of the visuals amounts to a violation of the Indian Copyright Act and the Information Technology Act.

"Despite clear disclaimers, prohibitions & restrictions Mr. Rahul Gandhi has violated the same and used this in his social media for political reasons. This is highly objectionable and a mockery of the law", the Complaint says.

The complaint says that the "malafide and motivated" action for "petty political gain" should be dealt with in accordance with the law.
