Vivek Agnihotri Sends Legal Notice To Mamata Banerjee Over Her Remarks About Movie Kashmir Files
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has sent a legal notice to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee over her remarks against the movies- Kashmir Files and his upcoming movie, the Delhi Files.
The Legal Notice states that when the movie Kashmir Files was released, CM Mamata Banerjee had allegedly called the movie a conspiracy and that it is mostly fiction and planned. It was further stated that when the filmmaker had announced in Kolkata to make a film on the "Bengal genocide", he was attacked and abused.
Through the legal notice sent by Advocate Shyam S. Agarwal, the film producer has asked Mamata Banerjee to tender unconditional apology by withdrawing all the statements made in her media address in respect of films ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘The Delhi Files’.
“…I have specific instructions from my clients to call upon you to tender unconditional apology to my clients by withdrawing all the allegations, statements and accusations made by you in your address to media on May 8 in respect of their films ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘The Delhi Files’, through the same mode and manner in all media including print, television and social, etc, within a period of one week from the date of receipt of this notice, failing which my clients will be constrained to initiate possible appreciate legal proceedings against you...”, read the Legal Notice issued by Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, his wife Pallavi Joshi and producer Abhishek Agarwal.
The Notice addressed to CM Mamata Banerjee further read “…you addressed media stating that movie being made by my clients is funded by Bharatiya Janata Party, referred to said visit of No.2 of my clients to Kolkata and also that making of movie Bengal Files is at the instance of BJP…”
The Notice claimed that such statements damaged the reputation of the filmmaker and producer. It was stated that the statements made are ‘false, baseless, far away from truth and are also part of the story concocted’ by CM Mamata Banerjee.
“…it is required that either you substantiate the allegations the allegations made by you against my clients and their movie by producing authenticated proof or to withdraw your statements by addressing media in similar manner and tendering unconditional apology to them. You need to give equal amount of publicity for withdrawing the accusations made against my clients.”, the notice issued through Advocate Shyam Agrawal read.
