Allahabad HC Grants Bail To Man Accused Of Abusing Lord Shri Ram Through Facebook Messenger

The Allahabad High Court granted bail to a man accused of using abusive language for Lord Ram on his Facebook messenger.

The bench of Justice Sameer Jain was hearing a bail application seeking release of the applicant on bail in case under Sections 153-A, 295-A, 505(2) I.P.C. and Section 67 of Information Technology Act, 2000 pending trial in the Court.

Advocate Dileep Kumar Singh appeared for the Applicant.

Counsel for the Applicant submitted that applicant, Riyaz alias Ovaisi is innocent and he never through his facebook messenger abused Lord Shri Ram.

It was further submitted that his friend used his Facebook account.

The Counsel also submitted that even when this fact was revealed to the applicant he tendered unconditional apology before the police station.

The Court noted that the applicant was not having any criminal history to his credit and he is in jail for more than 2 months.

The bench also noted that all the alleged offences are punishable with maximum punishment of three years.

Finally, the High Court without expressing his opinion on merits allowed the instant bail application.
