Delhi HC Calls Tihar Jail Authority To Report On Current Medical Condition Of Under-Trial Prisoners Aged Above 75 Years
|While referring to the status report dated Apr 10, 2023 made by Superintendent-II, Prison Head Quarter, Tihar, the Delhi High Court on its own motion, decided to seek details on the medical condition of all convicts and undertrial prisoners aged above 75 years.
A Division Bench of Justice Siddharth Mridul and Justice Mini Pushkarna therefore directed the Medical Superintendent concerned to furnish a fresh status report regarding the current medical condition of all the convicts and under-trial prisoners, who are above the age of 75 years (currently lodged in jail).
The Bench also directed for submission of complete details of the treatments, if any, being provided to those convicts and under-trial prisoners, on or before the next date of hearing.
Accordingly, the Bench gave twenty four days’ time and listed the matter for next hearing on May 29, 2023.
The High Court acted on its own motion for the Petitioner, whereas, Advocate Nandita Rao appeared for the Respondent.
