The Kerala High Court today sought the state government's response to a Writ Petition filed by the wife of slain RSS worker Sanjith A. seeking investigation by the CBI into two case, one relating to the killing of her husband and the other relating to an earlier attempt on his life.

Justice A. Badharudeen today directed the public prosecutor to file a response to the plea filed through M/s. S. Sreekumar Associates.

Sanjith, an office bearer of the RSS in Thenari Mandalam of Palakkad District was murdered on November 15 while he was travelling on a bike along with his wife. He was hacked to death in front of his wife.

It is alleged that the SDPI, the political wing of the Popular Front of India (PFI) is behind the murder. The Palakkad Town South Police Station registered an FIR against five identifiable persons under Section 302 read with Section 34 of the IPC.

It is contended in the Writ Petition that in June, 2020, Sanjith was attacked by SDPI workers, resulting in registration of an FIR under Sections 452, 324, 326 and 307 read with Section 34 of the IPC.

It is alleged that the Police took no interest to investigate the said crime and that "the investigation of the said crime is perfunctory and only to shield the real culprits".

The Petitioner alleges that Sanjth had constant threat on his life from SDPI and PFI activists and that "the murder of Sanjith A. is nothing but a result of a larger criminal conspiracy among the activists of the SDPI and PFI involving its national leaders".

It is contended that had the first attempt on Sanjith's life been properly investigated, the Police could have prevented his killing.

It is contended by Sanjith's wife that even though the involvement of SDPI and PFI are revealed in the crime, "the Police was even reluctant to name the organisation in the FIR."
