"No One To Police The Police Man In This State" - MP HC Pulls Up MP Police For Inaction In Missing Minor Girl Case

The Madhya Pradesh High Court slammed the Madhya Pradesh police department for its callousness in dealing with the case of a missing 11 year old girl.

The Bench of Justice Rohit Arya and Justice Milind Ramesh Phadke observed thus "…there is no one to Police the Police Man in this State. Safety and protection of public at large against invasion on their personal liberty and property appears to be seriously jeopardized."

In this case the father of the missing minor girl had approached the High Court in 2017 for tracing her daughter.

The Court observed that despite 03 SITs constituted to search for the missing corpus, the corpus so far was not found out. The Court remarked that it showed the incompetence of such Police officials, who were members of the SITs.

The Court also observed that there was a disclosure of the fact the minor girl was allegedly raped, killed and her body buried by a man. The Court noted that no action was taken.

The Court noted that despite knowing about the demise of the corpus, reports were submitted that the missing corpus was being searched.

The Court was surprised to note that so far, no FIR was lodged to start the investigation on aforesaid disclosure of the fact of the death of the deceased corpus.

The Court further remarked "We are constrained to observe so, despite repeated orders by this Court, DG Police Madhya Pradesh since the year 2020 has maintained blissful silence for the reasons best known to him. We may hasten to add that complaints of inaction or polluted action by the police force are invariably brought to the notice of this Court in different jurisdiction. We take strong exception to the functioning of the Police force in the State particularly, in the Guna district relevant to the facts of this case."

The Court ordered the presence of the Inspector General of Police on 8 July 2022 and stated that if circumstances so warrant, possibility of personal appearance of the DG Police was not ruled out.
