Six Additional Judges From Delhi & Karnataka High Courts Elevated To Permanent Judges
|The Ministry of Law and Justice notified the appointment of six additional judges from the Delhi and Karnataka High Courts as permanent judges.
On December 12, the Supreme Court Collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna, had recommended the elevation of these judges to permanent positions.
The following judges have been elevated to permanent positions:
Delhi High Court:
- Justice Shalinder Kaur
- Justice Ravinder Dudeja
The notification dated December 23, 2024 read, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint (i) Smt. Justice Shalinder Kaur and (ii) Shri Justice Ravinder Dudeja, Additional Judges of High Court of Delhi, to be Judges of that High Court, with effect, from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.”
Karnataka High Court:
- Justice Ramachandra Dattatray Huddar
- Justice Venkatesh Naik Thavaryanaik
- Justice Vijaykumar Adagouda Patil
- Justice Rajesh Rai Kallangala (effective from February 1, 2025, upon the occurrence of a vacancy)
The notification dated December 23, 2024 read, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint S/Shri Justices (i) Ramachandra Dattatray Huddar, (ii) Venkatesh Naik Thavaryanaik, (iii) Vijaykumar Adagouda Patil, Additional Judges of the Karnataka High Court, to be Judges of the Karnataka High Court with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices and (iv) Rajesh Rai Kallangala, Additional Judge, to be Judge of the Karnataka High Court with effect from the date on or after 1 February, 2025, when he assumes charge of his office.”
