If the Central Government accepts the recomendation of the Supreme Court Collegium to transfer Justice Anu Sivaraman of the Kerala High Court to the Karnataka High Court, the Justice Sivaraman will become the senior most Puisne Judge of the Karnataka High Court.

The present Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court will retire this month on the 25th.

Justice Sivaraman is seventh in the seniority list of the Kerala High Court (including the Chief Justice of Patna High Court Justice Vinod Chandran).

Justice Sivaraman was sworn in as an Additional Judge of the Kerala High Court on April 10, 2015 and was appointed as a permanent Judge of the High Court with effect from April 5, 2017. Justice Sivaraman was born on May 25, 1966.

As per the resolution published by the Supreme Court Collegium, Justice Sivaraman, by a communication dated October 16, 2023 sought a transfer out of the State of Kerala. The reasons for seeking transfer or the reason for recommending transfer to the Karnataka High Court are not mentioned in the resolution.

"The Collegium accedes to the request and resolves to recommend that Ms. Justice Anu Sivaraman be transferred, in the interests of the better administration of justice, to the High Court of Karnataka", says the resolution.

Justice K.Somashekar is the senior most Puisne Judge of the Karnataka High Court. Justice Somashekar was appointed as a Judge on 14 November, 2016. Since Justice Sivaraman was appointed as a Judge of the Kerala High Court on April 10, 2015, Justice Sivaraman will become the senior most judge of the Karnataka High Court, after its Chief Justice, Justice P.S.Dinesh Kumar.

Justice Sivaraman will retire in May, 2028, whereas the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Justice P.S.Dinesh Kumar, whose parent High Court is Karnataka High Court and was sworn in as its Chief Justice only this month, will retire on the 25th of this month.
