The Supreme Court has announced that an Online Advocate Appearance Portal to facilitate the procedure of marking appearances of the Advocates in the Record of Proceedings, will be activated from January 2, 2023.

The Portal has been developed for bringing paperless, speed, accuracy, and efficacy for recording the appearance of the Advocates in the Record of Proceedings. The Advocates on Record (AOR) may certify the appearance of Advocates in a matter and send the appearance slip through the newly designed Portal.

Till now, appearance slips were submitted directly in court or through email on the day when the case was listed. Thereafter, verification of AOR was done manually before the name of Senior Advocates and Advocates was inserted in the Record of Proceedings.

With the introduction of the Online Portal, AOR may submit an Appearance Slip in a case in which he/she is engaged after verification through a One Time Password. Now, the appearance Slips do not require further entry by the Registry manually in the Record of Proceedings.

The Advocate Appearance Portal allows Advocate On Records (AOR) to send appearance slips 2-3 days in advance after the cause list is published on the official website of the Supreme Court till 11.30 a.m. on the date of hearing of the matter. The User Manual for the same has also been made available.

The Online Portal eliminates the need to submit appearance slips to the court masters manually, making the process paperless.

“The existing practice of submitting appearance slips on Court-wise e-mail IDs shall stand dispensed with w.e.f. 02.01.2023”, read the Notice issued by Registrar of the Supreme Court.

"Secretary General is working on this. There will be an Online Portal, where appearances put in by lawyers will appear exactly as it is, in the Court's Order", said CJI DY Chandrachud in Open Court before the commencement of the Winter Vacations.

Some of the major achievements include the launch of the updated Supreme Court of India Mobile Application 2.0 and the online RTI Portal of the Supreme Court within a month of Justice Chandrachud taking charge as the 50th Chief Justice of India.
