Supreme Court Registry Notifies New System Of Listing Cases
|The Supreme Court under the leadership of newly sworn Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has issued a circular introducing a new system of listing in the Court.
From November 28. the Supreme Court will hear 10 Transfer Petitions followed by 10 Bail matters at the top of the Board.
Similarly, 7 Fresh matters will also be listed on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday.
The changes introduced by the CJI DY Chandrachud were shared with the members of the Bar through a circular issued by the Registry.
From day one of his assumption of office, Justice Dr. DY Chandrachud has put registry and judicial reforms as his top priority.
The CJI is also introducing the automatic listing of the matter based on the day on which the petition is filed with the Registry.
During mentioning on the previous Tuesday, the CJI said, "All matters registered on Saturdays, Monday, Tuesday will be listed on next Monday and matters registered on Thursday and Friday will be listed next Friday".
The Circular dated November 22, 2022, issued by the Supreme Court which shall come into effect from November 28, 2022 (Monday) read thus:
"1. 10 Transfer Petitions (After Notice) followed by 10 Bail Matters will be listed at the top of the Board before the Hon'ble Courts on all five days.
2. Generally around 07 Fresh Matters will also be listed on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday.
3. Regular Hearing Matters will be listed on Wednesday and Thursday. No Regular hearing matters will be listed on Tuesday.
4. Applications for condonation of delay in Re-filing shall be listed before the Hon'ble Court along with the matter, instead of being listed before Hon'ble Chamber Judge or before Registrar Court".
The newly sworn-in 50th Chief Justice of India, who assumed office from Nov 9, in his first remarks with the media said, "not with words, but with actions".
"We will work for all citizens of the country, whether be it technology, registry reform or judicial reform. We will take care of citizens of the country in all aspects", the CJI has said.
