SC Collegium Recommends Names To Be Appointed As Judges Of Various High Courts
|The Supreme Court Collegium comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice BR Gavai has recommended names of the following to be appointed as Judges of various High Courts:
As Permanent Judges:
- Additional Judges Moksha Khajuria Kazmi and Rahul Bharti as Permanent Judges of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court
- Additional Judge Abhay Ahuja as Permanent Judge of the Bombay High Court
As Judges
- Judicial Officers Shamima Jahan and Yarenjungla Longkumer as Judges of the Gauhati High Court
- Judicial Officer Chaitali Chatterjee (Das) as Judge of the Calcutta High Court
- Judicial Officer Arvind Kumar Verma as Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court
- Advocates Rohit Kapoor, Harmeet Singh Grewal and Deepinder Singh Nalwa as Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court
Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi
She obtained her LL.B degree from Jammu University in 1996. She began her legal practice in the J&K High Court at Jammu and received the 'Best Advocate of the Year' Award in 1998. She served as Assistant Advocate General from 2002 to 2004 and as Additional Advocate General from 2016 to 2017. She was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on March 24, 2022, taking the oath of office on March 28, 2022.
Justice Rahul Bharti
He was appointed as Additional Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh through Notification dated 24th March 2022, taking the oath of office on 28th March 2022.
Justice Abhay Ahuja
He was enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa in August 1992. Obtained an LL.M in Commercial Laws from the University Department of Law, University of Mumbai in 1994. Represented various entities, including the Government, PSUs, banks, and corporations in the Supreme Court, Bombay High Court, Delhi High Court, and other forums. Appointed as Senior Standing Counsel by the Income Tax Department (2008), Senior Panel Counsel, Group I, by the Government of India (2015), and Senior Panel Counsel by the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Board of India (2018). He was elevated as Judge of the Bombay High Court on March 4, 2020.
