Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Appointment Of Judges To Kerala And Andhra Pradesh High Courts
|The Supreme Court Collegium, comprising CJI D.Y. Chandrachud, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, and Justice B.R. Gavai, has recommended judicial officers for appointment as Judges of the Kerala High Court and Advocates for appointment as Judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, and an Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court for appointment as a Permanent Judge, by three separate resolutions.
The Collegium has recommended the names of the following judicial officers for appointment as Judges of the High Court of Kerala:
- K V Jayakumar
- Muralee Krishna S
- Jobin Sebastian
- P V Balakrishnan
“On 30 May 2024, the Chief Justice of the High Court of Kerala made the above recommendation in consultation with his two senior-most colleagues. The Chief Minister and the Governor of the State of Kerala concurred with the recommendation,” the resolution read.
The following names of the advocates were recommended for appointment as Judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court:
- Maheswara Rao Kuncheam @ Kuncham
- Thoota Chandra Dhana Sekar @ T C D Sekhar
- Challa Gunaranjan
The resolution stated, “On 15 May 2024, the Chief Justice of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh in consultation with his two senior-most colleagues recommended the names of the above advocates for appointment as Judges of that High Court.”
Also, Justice Siddaiah Rachaiah, an Additional Judge at the Karnataka High Court was recommended for the appointment as a Permanent Judge of that High Court.
The Resolution dated October 15, 2024, read, “On 06 August 2024, the Collegium of the High Court of Karnataka unanimously recommended the name of Mr Justice Siddaiah Rachaiah, Additional Judge, High Court of Karnataka for appointment as a Permanent Judge of that High Court…A Committee of two Judges of the Supreme Court constituted by the Chief Justice of India in terms of the Resolution dated 26 October 2017 of the Supreme Court Collegium has assessed the judgments of Mr Justice Siddaiah Rachaiah.”
