Center Appoints Justice Sanjay V. Gangapurawala As Acting Chief Justice Of Bombay High Court
|The Ministry of Law and Justice has notified the appointment of Justice Sanjay Vijaykumar Gangapurwala, senior-most Judge of the Bombay High Court, as the Acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.
This comes after Justice Dipankar Datta relinquished the charge as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court consequent upon his appointment as a Judge of the Supreme Court.

"In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Shri Justice Sanjay Vijaykumar Gangapurwala, senior-most puisne Judge of the Bombay High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from the date Shri Justice Dipankar Datta relinquishes the charge as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court consequent upon his appointment as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India.", the notification released by the law ministry read.
Justice Gangapurwala was an advocate for Financial Institutions such as the Central Bank of India, Bombay Mercantile Cooperative Bank, Jalgaon Janata Sahakari Bank. He has also represented Government before Justice Mane Commission.
He was an honourary part-time lecturer at M.P.Law College from 1991 till the date of elevation as Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court on March 13, 2010.
