CJI Announces Hackathon 2024 Of Supreme Court Focusing On Exploring Solutions Via Artificial Intelligence
|The Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud has announced the second hackathon of the Supreme Court. He said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be used to streamline the functioning of the Court’s Registry.
To commemorate 75 years of establishment of the Supreme Court of India, the second edition of Supreme Court of India’s Hackathon, 2024 is Live.
The main theme of Hackathon 2024 is to explore solutions in Artificial Intelligence (AI) based technology for improving and further streamlining the official functions performed by the Registry of the Supreme Court.
This time, two problem statements have been provided for the innovative minds –
Statement-A
Development of an artificial intelligence-based model for extraction of data including metadata, data fields such as name of parties, address, Act, section – legal provisions, subject categories, identification of formats of petitions such as special leave petition – Form 28, Supreme Court Rules 2013, statutory appeals, etc., to facilitate in scrutiny of cases, removal of defects.
Statement-B
Development of an artificial intelligence-based model for conversational use case chatbot in English and scheduled languages of the Constitution of India, 1950, to answer queries about case-related information, summarisation of judgments, court documents, etc.
Entries for Hackathon 2024 are open until August 31, 2024.
The date of final presentation with proof-of-concept is September 14, 2024.
