Udaipur Beheading: NIA Registers Case Under UAPA, State Suspends ASI For Inaction On Kanhaiya Lal's Complaint
|The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has registered a case against the accused who committed the heinous murder of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, Rajasthan under Sections 452, 302, 153(A), 153(B), 295(A) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 16, 18 and 20 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967.
Initially, an FIR was registered by local police and the NIA re-registered the case, as per a press release by the NIA. Pursuant to the registration of the case, NIA teams reached Udaipur and initiated investigation.

In the meantime, in a press conference conducted by the DGP of the state, it was announced that the Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Dhan Mandi Police Station was suspended for inaction on the compliant filed by Kanhaiya Lal about the threat to his life.
In the complaint of June 15 to the Police, Kanhaiya Lal had said that he was facing threat to his life and had sought protection. He had said in his complaint that some people who were conducting "recce" of his shop.
The Police have arrested the two assailants who were visible in the video and a few others said to be involved in the heinous crime.
Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor in Udaipur was beheaded, allegedly for a social media post in support of Nupur Sharma. The act was captured on video by the assailants, who had also published a video issuing a threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
