Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court today reserved its order on the bail application filed by Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain in relation to the Disproportionate Asset and Money Laundering case filed against him by the Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate.

Special CBI Judge Geetanjali Goel heard the arguments by Senior Advocate N. Hariharan appearing for Jain. He submitted that Jain justifies the triple test laid down, "he is not a flight risk, the evidence is mostly documents which cannot be tampered with and the third elements are the witnesses and they are coming with a specious plea that witnesses are under threat. The witnesses have never raised the allegations of threat".

He also submitted that ED has not made out a case against Jain and that the ED is not able to establish any connection between the two trusts i.e. Jindal Trust and Lala Sher Singh Trust and Satyendra Jain during the cheque period. He also submitted that Satyendra Jain has sleep apnea for which he requires an attendant and a CPAP machine which requires 24 hour power back up.

Additional Solicitor General S V Raju appearing for the Enforcement Directorate submitted before the court that, Jain is not cooperating with the investigation that is going on and is providing false information, he submitted that, "While we were investigating this matter which involves laundering cash and cash is converted into something lawful and used. While we were investigating we came across similar transaction regarding Lala Sher Singh trust. When we asked him he doesn't say that he is related to Sher Singh Trust today my friend has said. We pointedly asked him about the trust he says he has never heard of the trust. On 10.6.22 he is confronted with a document which shows that he is the president. Then he says I don't remember, so from denial to don't remember and says that my signature has to be tested. Then he says that he has lost his memory due to Covid.... everywhere there is denial."

ASG S V Raju submitted that when Jain exited from the companies it was a sham exit. He is being shadowed by Vaibhav Jain and Ankush Jain who are his accomplices. He also submitted that further investigations are going on and if bail is granted that may cause hindrance to the investigation.

Former Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain had moved the bail application in the trial court after the court had sent him to police custody on 9th June 2022. Jain was yesterday sent to 14-day Judicial Custody in the Disproportionate Asset and Money laundering matter.
