Gyanvapi Mosque: Shivling Found At Place Of Ritualistic Cleansing Per Lawyers, Court Restrains Performance Of 'Wuzu'

As per lawyers associated with the case, Shivling in the Gyanvyapi Mosque was found in a pond used for the performance of the ritualistic cleansing of hands and feet called 'Wuzu' done before offering prayers in the Mosque.

The place called 'Wuzukhana' is the place where the ritualist washing or 'Wuzhu' is done.

Even though the report of the survey is not in the public domain, the contents of the report have come through what lawyers have told the media.

However, the claim about the Shivling being found from the place of 'Wuzhu' seems to be correct since the Court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) Ravi Kumar Diwakar, whose order is already in the public domain, says that only 20 Muslims should be allowed to go inside the Mosque and do namaz and that "they should be immediately stopped from doing Wuzu".

It appears that the reason for the inclusion of a direction regarding 'Wuzu' is that since the news about the existence of the Shivling has come out in the public domain, any continued washing of hands and feet at the location may result will undesirable.

Though the matter which is listed before the Supreme Court tomorrow was filed prior to the passing of the present order by the Varanasi Court, it is likely that the present order will also be brought before the Supreme Court.

Lawyers for the Gyanvyapi Mosque have told the media that what is being claimed to be a Shivling is only a fountain and has got holes for the flow of water. They have also claimed that today's order for sealing of the area was passed without hearing them.
