The administration of the Allahabad High Court issued directives to all officers and officials across different sections of the Registry of the High Court, emphasizing the importance of humility and cooperation in their interactions with advocates and their clerks. It said, “All the officers/officials of the various sections of this High Court are directed to observe most humble and docile behavior while dealing with the learned counsel and their clerks.”

In an office order dated January 24, the Registrar General outlined the need for respectful treatment of learned counsel, highlighting their significant role in serving society by representing the poor, marginalized, and deprived. It stated, “Learned counsel are the generous class, serving society by representing poor, marginalized and deprived people of the society. Therefore, they must be dealt with patience and utmost regard. The sections must espouse the utmost composure while dealing with learned counsel. All officers / officials must deal with learned counsel, politely and their rnanner & etiquette must reflect appropriate humility.”

Supervisory authorities, such as Registrars and Joint Registrars, were instructed to conduct briefing sessions to instill the desired conduct within the sections under their supervision.

The order read, “In this regard all the Registrars / Joint Registrars i.e. Supervisory Authorities are directed to conduct briefing sessions in the sections under their supervisory control, to groom all the officers / officials, with the right etiquette and manner to address learned counsel and their clerks patiently and calmly.”

The order also urged all concerned parties to make sincere efforts to prevent incidents where learned counsel might feel the need to complain about the staff's bad or rude behavior.

Additionally, the order recommended the organization of a training session by various Registrars in the following month to raise awareness among the staff regarding the importance of respectful and cooperative behavior in their interactions with advocates. The order read, “Additionally, a training session be undertaken by Registrar (J) (Criminal), Registrar (J) (Litigation) and Joint Registrar (J) (S&A), to sensitize the staff dealing with learned counsel, preferably on the third Saturday of the upcoming month.”
