Attack On Kerala HC Chief Justice's Convoy, FIR Registered For Attempt To Murder
The Kerala Police has registered an FIR inter alia under Section 308 of the Indian Penal Code against a person for allegedly attacking the convoy of the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court, Justice S. Manikumar.
Yesterday night at around 10.50 pm, when the Chief Justice was returning from the airport, the accused jumped in front of the Judge's convoy at Ernakulam and hurled abuses at the Judge. As per media reports, the name of the accused is Tijo. As per reports, the accused was inebriated at the time of the incident.
The police are still trying to ascertain the motive for the attack, as per reports, since the accused knew that it was the Chief Justice's convoy. The accused was stopped by the pilot police vehicle in the convoy.
The FIR has been registered at the Mulavukad Police Station, Ernakulam. The FIR has been registered on the basis of the complaint by the security officer of the Chief Justice.
It is reported by media that the accused shouted that "this is not Tamil Nadu". Chief Justice Manikumar was a Judge of the Madras High Court before being appointed as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court. There are reports that the accused is a container-truck driver.
The Police is still questioning the accused.
