Centre Notifies Appointment Of Acting Chief Justices For Two High Courts Following Appointments To Supreme Court
The Ministry of Law and Justice has appointed Acting Chief Justices for the Madras High Court and the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
These appointments follow vacancies created by the elevation of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Chief Justice N Kotiswar Singh and Madras High Court Acting Chief Justice R Mahadevan to judgeships in the Supreme Court.
Justice D Krishnakumar has been appointed as Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.
The notification dated July 16, 2024 read, “In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice D. Krishnakumar, Judge of the Madras High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court consequent upon elevation of Shri Justice R. Mahadevan, Acting Chief Justice of Madras High Court as Judge of the Supreme Court of India.”
Justice Tashi Rabstan has been appointed as Acting Chief Justice of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
The notification dated July 16, 2024 read, “In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Tashi Rabstan, Judge of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court consequent upon elevation of Shri Justice N. Kotiswar Singh, Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court as Judge of the Supreme Court of India.”
