The Ministry of Law and Justice has notified the appointment of Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, Judge, High Court of Orissa to be the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium on December 27, 2023 had recommended the names of five judges to be appointed as Chief Justices of various High Courts.

The notification dated July 3, 2024 read, “In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Dr. Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, Judge, High Court of Orissa, to be the Chief Justice of the High Court of JharIchand, with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.”

In another notification, the Ministry notified the transfer of Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, Judge of the Jharkhand High Court to Rajasthan High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium on December 29 had resolved to recommend the transfer of Justice Shree Chandrashekhar from the Jharkhand High Court to the Rajasthan High Court.

The notification dated July 3, 2024 read, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 222 of the Constitution of India, the President, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to transfer Shri Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, Judge of the High Court of jharkhand, to be a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court and to direct him to assume charge of his office in the Rajasthan High Court.”
