The Ministry of Law and Justice notified the appointment of five advocates as additional judges of the Bombay High Court for a term of two years.

The newly appointed additional judges are:

  1. Nivedita Prakash Mehta
  2. Prafulla Surendrakumar Khubalkar
  3. Ashwin Damodar Bhobe
  4. Rohit Wasudeo Joshi
  5. Advait Mahendra Sethna

These appointments follow a recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium on September 24. The resolution from the Collegium indicated that the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court had initially proposed the elevation of these five lawyers on January 19, 2024.

The notification dated October 23, 2024 read, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint (i) Nivedita Prakash Mehta, (ii) Shri Prafulla Surendrakumar Khubalkar, (iii) Shri Ashwin Damodar Bhobe, (iv) Shri Rohit Wasudeo Joshi, and (v) Shri Advait Mahendra Sethna, to be Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court, for a period of two years, with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.”
