Centre Notifies Appointment Of Two Additional Judges Of Gauhati HC As Judges, Extends Tenure Of One Additional Judge Of J&K&L High Court
As the first notification relating to the judiciary after the swearing-in of the new government, the Ministry of Law and Justice today notified the appointment of Justice Susmita Phukan Khaund and Justice Mitali Thakuria, Additional Judges of the Gauhati High Court, to be Permanent Judges of that High Court.
The notification dated June 11, 2024 read, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint (i) Smt. Justice Susmita Phukan Khaund and (ii) Smt. Justice Mitali Thakuria, Additional Judges of the ' Gauhati High Court, to be Judges of that High Court with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.”
In another notification, the term of Justice Rajesh Sekhri, Additional Judge of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court was extended for one more year.
The notification dated June 11, 2024 read, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (l) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Rajesh Sekhri, Additional Judge of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, to be an Additional Judge ofthat High Court foraperiod of oneyear w.e.f.29.07.2024.”
