SC Collegium Recommends Appointment Of Nine Additional Judges Of Allahabad HC As Permanent Judges
The Supreme Court Collegium consisting of CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice BR Gavai resolved to recommend the names of nine Additional Judges of the Allahabad High Court for appointment as permanent Judges of that High Court.
The names of the judges recommended are:
- Shri Justice Syed Qamar Hasan Rizvi,
- Shri Justice Manish Kumar Nigam,
- Shri Justice Anish Kumar Gupta,
- Ms. Justice Nand Prabha Shukla,
- Shri Justice Kshitij Shailendra,
- Shri Justice Vinod Diwakar,
- Shri Justice Prashant Kumar,
- Shri Justice Manjive Shukla, and
- Shri Justice Arun Kumar Singh Deshwal.
On May 28, 2024, the Collegium of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad unanimously recommended these Additional Judges for elevation to permanent positions. Both the Chief Minister and the Governor of Uttar Pradesh have expressed their agreement with this recommendation.
The notification dated August 13, 2024 read, “In view of the above, the Collegium resolves to recommend that S/Shri Justices (i) Syed Qamar Hasan Rizvi, (ii) Manish Kumar Nigam, (iii) Anish Kumar Gupta, (iv) Ms Nand Prabha Shukla, (v) Kshitij Shailendra, (vi) Vinod Diwakar, (vii) Prashant Kumar, (viii) Manjive Shukla, and (ix) Arun Kumar Singh Deshwal, Additional Judges, be appointed as permanent Judges of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad against the existing vacancies.”
