SC Collegium Recommends Names Of Five Judges To Be Appointed As Chief Justices Of Different High Courts
The Supreme Court Collegium comprising Chief Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud, Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice B R Gavai has recommended the names of five judges to be appointed as Chief Justices of various High Courts.
The recommendations are as follows:
Justice B R Sarangi to be appointed as Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court
Justice Arun Bhansali to be appointed as Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court
Justice Vijay Bishnoi to be appointed as Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court
Justice Sheel Nagu to be appointed as Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court
Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava to be appointed as Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court
Justice B R Sarangi
Justice Sarangi has a distinguished career, having been elevated as a Judge of the High Court of Orissa in June 2013 after 27 years of practice at the Bar. He has significant experience across various legal domains and has authored over 1056 reported judgments during his more than 10-year tenure as a High Court Judge.
Justice Arun Bhansali
Justice Bhansali has a judicial career that began with his appointment as a Judge on January 8, 2013. Prior to his elevation to the bench, he practiced law at the Jodhpur Bench, specializing in civil, company, Constitutional, and taxation cases. With a tenure of nearly eleven years as a High Court Judge, he has authored over 1230 reported judgments, showcasing his extensive experience in dispensing justice. Recognized for his competence and sound legal acumen, Justice Bhansali is deemed highly suitable for elevation as the Chief Justice of the largest High Court in the country.
Justice Vijay Bishnoi
Justice Bishnoi previously practiced at the Rajasthan High Court and the Central Administrative Tribunal in Jodhpur. His areas of practice included civil, criminal, Constitutional, service, and election cases. With a judicial career spanning nearly eleven years as a High Court Judge, he has authored 652 reported judgments, demonstrating extensive experience in dispensing justice. Recognized for maintaining a high standard of professional ethics and exhibiting impeccable conduct and integrity, Justice Bishnoi is considered a fitting candidate.
Justice Sheel Nagu
Serving as a Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh since May 27, 2011, Justice Nagu previously practiced at the High Court of Madhya Pradesh, specializing in Constitutional, service, labour, and criminal cases. With a judicial career spanning over 12 years, Justice Nagu has authored more than 499 reported judgments, showcasing his extensive experience in dispensing justice. Recognized as the seniormost puisne Judge in his parent High Court, he is considered a competent judge with a high level of integrity and conduct befitting a person in a high judicial office.
Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava
Having been elevated as a Judge of the High Court of Chhattisgarh on December 10, 2009, and later transferred to the Rajasthan High Court on October 18, 2021, Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava currently serves as Acting Chief Justice. Before his elevation, he practiced at the District Court, Raigarh, High Court of Madhya Pradesh, and High Court of Chhattisgarh, specializing in Constitutional, service, taxation, labour, civil, and criminal cases. Designated as Senior Advocate by the High Court of Chhattisgarh, he has authored over 505 reported judgments during his tenure of more than 14 years as a Judge of the High Court.
