SC Collegium Recommends Transfer Of 3 High Court Judges And Appointment Of 13 Additional Judges As Permanent
The Supreme Court Collegium comprising Chief Justice Of India DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice BR Gavai recommended names of Judges to be appointed as permanent judges.
The following names were recommended for appointment as
Permanent Judges of Andhra Pradesh High Court
- Justice Boppana Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Chakravarthi
- Justice Tallapragada Mallikarjuna Rao
- Justice Duppala Venkata Ramana
The Resolution dated February 13, 2024, reads, “in view of the above, the Collegium resolves to recommend that: A. Shri Justice Boppana Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Chakravarthi and Shri Justice Tallapragada Mallikarjuna Rao, Additional Judges, be appointed as permanent Judges of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh against two of the existing vacancies; and B. Shri Justice Duppala Venkata Ramana, Additional Judge (PHC: Andhra Pradesh), be appointed as a permanent Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh against one of the existing vacancies available in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh”.

“With a view to assess the merit and suitability of the above Additional Judges for appointment as permanent Judges, we have scrutinized the material placed on record including the opinion of the consultee-Judges and the report of the Judgment Evaluation Committee. The Collegium VERDICTUM.IN 3 is of the considered view that (i) Mr Justice Kuldeep Tiwari, (ii) Mr Justice Gurbir Singh, (iii) Mr Justice Deepak Gupta, (iv) Ms Justice Amarjot Bhatti, (v) Ms Justice Ritu Tagore, (vi) Ms Justice Manisha Batra, (vii) Ms Justice Harpreet Kaur Jeewan, (viii) Ms Justice Sukhvinder Kaur, (ix) Mr Justice Sanjiv Berry and (x) Mr Justice Vikram Aggarwal, Additional Judges, are fit and suitable for being appointed as permanent Judges”, the Resolution dated February 13, 2024, reads.
The Supreme Court Collegium comprising Chief Justice Of India DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice BR Gavai, Justice Surya Kant and Justice Aniruddha Bose recommended names of Judges to be transferred to different High Courts.
The following names were recommended:
- Justice Sujoy Paul to be transferred from the Madhya Pradesh High Court and Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya to be transferred from the Calcutta High Court to the Telangana High Court
“The Collegium accedes to the request and resolves to recommend that Mr Justice Sujoy Paul be transferred, in the interests of the better administration of justice, to the High Court for the State of Telangana”, the Resolution dated February 13, 2024, reads.

- Justice Anu Sivaraman to be transferred from Kerala High Court to Karnataka High Court
“By a communication dated 16 October 2023 Ms Justice Anu Sivaraman has sought a transfer out of the State of Kerala. The Collegium accedes to the request and resolves to recommend that Ms. Justice Anu Sivaraman be transferred, in the interests of the better administration of justice, to the High Court of Karnataka”, the Resolution dated February 13, 2024, reads.
