SCBA Member Writes To President Kapil Sibal Demanding Fulfillment Of Election Promise Of Group Insurance Policy For Members And Families
In a letter addressed to Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), a SCBA member Reepak Kansal has called for the swift implementation of a group insurance policy for SCBA members and their families.
The request highlights the commitment made by Sibal during his SCBA election campaign to introduce a comprehensive health insurance scheme aimed at securing the well-being of its members.
"As a dedicated member of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), I am writing to kindly remind you of the commitment made towards providing a comprehensive group insurance policy for the members of our esteemed SCBA as well as their family members. This initiative is of utmost importance as it will ensure that our members and their families are adequately protected and have access to essential health services in times of need," the letter dated November 12 states.
Kansal had addressed a similar letter to Sibal in October, making the same demand.
Kansal emphasized the critical need for medical protection, pointing out that many members are eagerly awaiting this policy for their healthcare security. He urged Sibal to expedite the fulfilment of this promise, stating that such a move would represent a substantial step toward member welfare.
Kansal also expressed optimism that, under Sibal's guidance, this essential benefit would soon be available to all SCBA members and their dependents.
"Many of our SCBA members are looking forward to this policy for their medical security and its implementation will be a significant step toward the welfare of our members. I humble request you to take the necessary steps to fulfil this promise at the earliest. I remain hopeful that under your leadership, this important benefit will soon be available to all," the letter reads.
Recently, the SCBA Members had raised concerns about Sibal’s alleged lack of support for the common interests of SCBA members. Senior Advocate Aggarwala criticized Sibal’s decision not to endorse a recent resolution calling for a boycott of the Supreme Court Museum’s inauguration, set to take place on November 7, 2024.
