Supreme Court Collegium Modifies Its Earlier Recommendation For Appointment Of Chief Justices Of Four High Courts
The Supreme Court Collegium has modified its earlier recommendation of July 11, 2024 with respect to the appointment of Chief Justice to various High Courts.
By resolution passed today by the Collegium comprising CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice B R Gavai, the Collegium modified its recommendation for the Meghalaya High Court, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the Madhya Pradesh High Court and the High Court of Himachal Pradesh.
The Supreme Court Collegium has made the following changes today:
1. Justice Indra Prasanna Mukerji is recommended for appointment as the Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court.
2. Justice Tashi Rabstan is recommended for appointment as the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
3. Justice Suresh Kumar Kait is recommended for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
4. Justice G S Sandhawalia is recommended for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
The Collegium clarified that the present resolution will not affect the recommendations made earlier as regards the proposals in respect of Justice Manmohan, Justice Rajiv Shakdher, Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar and Justice K R Shriram.
