Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Appointment Of Judges For Seven High Courts And Transfer Of Judges Of Two High Courts
The Supreme Court Collegium comprising CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, and Justice Sanjiv Khanna has recommended the appointment of Judges for seven different High Courts.
- Judicial Officers as Judges
- Judicial Officers M B Snehalatha, Johnson John, G Girish, C Pratheepkumar, and P Krishna Kumar have been recommended for appointment as Judges of the Kerala High Court.
The notification dated October 10, 2023 reads, “In view of the above, the Collegium resolves to recommend that S/Shri (i) Smt M B Snehalatha, (ii) Johnson John, (iii) G Girish, (iv) C Pratheepkumar, and (v) P Krishna Kumar, Judicial Officers, be appointed as Judges of the High Court of Kerala. Their inter se seniority be fixed as per the existing practice.”
- Judicial Officers Biswajit Palit and Sabyasachi Datta Purkayastha have been recommended for appointment as Judges of the Tripura High Court.
The notification dated October 10, 2023 reads, “In view of the above, the Collegium resolves to recommend that S/Shri (i) Biswajit Palit and (ii) Sabyasachi Datta Purkayastha, Judicial Officers, be appointed as judges of the High Court of Tripura. Their inter se seniority be fixed as per the existing practice.”
- Judicial Officers Shalinder Kaur and Ravinder Dudeja have been recommended for appointment as Judges of the Delhi High Court.
The notification dated October 10, 2023 reads, “In view of the above, the Collegium resolves to recommend that (1) Ms Shalinder Kaur and (2) Shri Ravinder Dudeja, Judicial Officers, be appointed as judges of the High Court of Delhi. Their inter se seniority be fixed as per the existing practice.”
- Judicial Officers Abhay Jainarayanji Mantri, Shyam Chhaganlal Chandak, and Neeraj Pradeep Dhote have been recommended for appointment as Judges of the Bombay High Court.
The notification dated October 10, 2023 reads, “In view of the above, the Collegium resolves to recommend that (1) Shri Abhay Jainarayanji Mantri, (2) Shri Shyam Chhaganlal Chandak, and (3) Shri Neeraj Pradeep Dhote, judicial officers, be appointed as judges of the High Court of Bombay. Their inter se seniority be fixed as per the existing practice.”
- Judicial Officer Vimal Kanaiyalal Vyas has been recommended for appointment as Judge of the Gujarat High Court.
The notification date October 10, 2023 reads, “In view of the above, the Collegium resolves to recommend that Shri Vimal Kanaiyalal Vyas, Judicial Officer, be appointed as a judge of the High Court of Gujarat.”
- Advocates as Judges
- Advocate Ravindra Kumar Agrawal has been recommended for appointment as Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court.
The notification dated October 10, 2023 reads, “In view of the above, the Collegium resolves to recommend that Shri Ravindra Kumar Agrawal, Advocate, be appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Chhattisgarh.”
- Advocates Harinath Nunepally, Kiranmayee Mandava @ Kiranmayee Kanaparthy, Sumathi Jagadam, and Nyapathy Vijay have been recommended for appointment as Judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
The notification dated October 10, 2023 reads, “In view of the above, the Collegium resolves to recommend that S/Shri (1) Shri Harinath Nunepally, (2) Smt. Kiranmayee Mandava @ Kiranmayee Kanaparthy, (3) Smt. Sumathi Jagadam, and (4) Shri Nyapathy Vijay, Advocates, be appointed as judges of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh. Their inter se seniority be fixed as per the existing practice.”
The Supreme Court Collegium has also recommended the transfer of Justice M V Muralidaran from Manipur High Court to Calcutta High Court.
The resolution dated October 11, 2023 reads, “We have considered the requests made by Mr Justice M V Muralidaran in his above communication. The Collegium does not find merit in the requests made by him. The Collegium, therefore, resolves to reiterate its recommendation dated 9 October 2023 to transfer Mr Justice M V Muralidaran to the High Court at Calcutta.”
Further, the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the transfer of Justice Avneesh Jhingan from Punjab and Haryana High Court to the Rajasthan High Court.
The notification dated October 09, 2023 reads, “By a resolution dated 3 August 2023, this Collegium proposed transfer of Mr Justice Avneesh Jhingan, Judge, High Court of Punjab and Haryana to the High Court of Gujarat. The recommendation has been pending with the Government since 11 August 2023. On reconsideration and in supersession of the above recommendation, it is proposed to transfer Mr Justice Avneesh Jhingan, Judge, High Court of Punjab and Haryana to the Rajasthan High Court.”
