Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Making 18 Additional Judges In Two High Courts Permanent
The Supreme Court Collegium comprising CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Sanjiv Khanna has recommended the Appointment of Eighteen Additional Judges as Permanent Judges in Allahabad, Punjab and Haryana High Courts.
The appointment of the following additional judges, seven from the Allahabad High Court and eleven from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, has been recommended to be made permanent:
Punjab and Haryana High Court:
- Justice Nidhi Gupta, Justice Sanjay Vashisth, Justice Tribhuvan Dahiya, Justice Namit Kumar, Justice Harkesh Manuja, Justice Aman Chaudhary, Justice Naresh Singh @ Naresh Singh Shekhawat, Justice Harsh Bunger, Justice Jagmohan Bansal, Justice Deepak Manchanda, and Justice Alok Jain @ Alok Kumar Jain.
The Notification, dated 14 September, reads, "With a view to assess the merit and suitability of the above Additional Judges for appointment as permanent judges, we have scrutinized the material placed on record including the opinion of the consultee-judges and the report of the Judgment Evaluation Committee. On an overall consideration of the above proposal, the Collegium is of the view that (i) Ms Justice Nidhi Gupta, S/Shri Justices (ii) Sanjay Vashisth, (iii) Tribhuvan Dahiya, (iv) Namit Kumar, (v) Harkesh Manuja, (vi) Aman Chaudhary, (vii) Naresh Singh @ Naresh Singh Shekhawat, (viii) Harsh Bunger, (ix) Jagmohan Bansal, (x) DeepakManchanda, and (xi) Alok Jain @ Alok Kumar Jain, Additional Judges, are fit and suitable for being appointed as permanent judges".
Allahabad High Court :
- Justice Umesh Chandra Sharma, Justice Renu Agarwal, Justice Ram Manohar Narayan Mishra, Justice Mayank Kumar Jain, Justice Shiv Shanker Prasad, Justice Gajendra Kumar, and Justice Nalin Kumar Srivastava

RenuAgarwal, (iii) Ram Manohar Narayan Mishra, (iv) Mayank Kumar Jain, (v) Shiv Shanker Prasad, (vi) Gajendra Kumar, and (vii) Nalin Kumar Srivastava, Additional Judges, are fit and suitable for being appointed as permanent judges".
