Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Transfer Of Justice Nani Tagia From Gauhati HC To Patna HC
The Supreme Court collegium comprising CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice Surya Kant has recommended the transfer of Justice Nani Tagia from Gauhati High Court to Patna High Court.
The Resolution, dated 24th August reads, “On 23 August 2023, the Collegium proposed the transfer of Mr Justice Nani Tagia, Judge, Gauhati High Court to the High Court of Judicature at Patna, for better administration of justice…In terms of the Memorandum of Procedure, we have consulted Judges of the Supreme Court who being conversant with the affairs of the Gauhati High Court are in a position to offer views on the proposed transfer. We have also consulted the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court and the Chief Justice of the High Court of Judicature at Patna”.
Justice Nani Tagia:
He was born on May 16, 1969 in Arunachal Pradesh. He obtained his B.A. from Govt. College, Arunachal University and his LL.B. from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University. He was designated as a Senior Advocate by the Gauhati High Court on August 4, 2014, and was later elevated to Additional Judge on November 19, 2018. He became a permanent Judge on November 10, 2020.
