Centre Clears Appointment Of Five Judicial Officers As Additional Judges Of Kerala High Court
The Ministry of Law and Justice has cleared the appointment of five Judicial Officers as the Additional Judges of the Kerala High Court.
Following Judicial Officers have been appointed as the Additional Judges –
• Parameswara Panicker Krishna Kumar
• Kodassery Veliyath Madom Jayakumar
• Muralee Krishna Shankaramoole
• Jobin Sebastian
• Pandikkaran Varadaraja Iyer Balakrishnan
The Supreme Court Collegium had earlier recommended the appointment of the above Judicial Officers via resolution on October 15, 2024.
The Notification dated October 29, 2024 read, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint S/Shri (i) Parameswara Panicker Krishna Kumar, (ii) Kodassery Veliyath Madom Jayakumar, (iii) Muralee Krishna Shankaramoole, (iv) Jobin Sebastian and (v) Pandikkaran Varadaraja Iyer Balakrishnan, to be Additional Judges of the Kerala High Court, in that order of seniority, for a period of two years with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.”
Out of these names, four were recommended for the first time this year. Whereas, the name of P.P. Krishna Kumar was first recommended in October last year. The Collegium repeated his name in its resolution passed this year because it was yet to be cleared by the Central Government.
The High Court has been functioning with 40 Judges as against a sanctioned strength of 47 Judges.
