A Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum in Delhi has adjourned a case to November citing the absence of cooling facilities, including air conditioning or a cooler, within the courtroom. The decision was prompted by the sweltering heat, with temperatures soaring above 40 degrees celsius, rendering it difficult for the Court to conduct proceedings effectively.

The coram, comprising of President Suresh Kumar Gupta and Members Harshali Kaur and Ramesh Chand Yadav, highlighted the adverse conditions in the courtroom in their order dated May 21. They noted the discomfort caused by excessive heat, resulting in sweating and hindering the ability to hear arguments. Additionally, the forum lamented the lack of basic amenities such as access to water for restroom facilities, further exacerbating the challenging environment.

"There is neither Air Conditioner nor Cooler in the Court Room. Temperature is more than 40 Degree Celsius. There is too much heat in the Court room which led to sweating as such it is difficult to hear arguments. Moreover, there is no water supply even to go to the washroom to ease ourselves," the forum said in its order dated May 21.

Given these circumstances, the Consumer Forum deemed it impractical to proceed with the case and opted to adjourn it until November 21. "In these circumstances, arguments cannot be heard so case is adjourned for the arguments...Put up for 21.11.2024," the forum said.

Furthermore, the forum directed the dissemination of the order to the Secretary-Cum-Commissioner for informational purposes. "Copy of this order be sent to Secretary-Cum-Commissioner for information," it said in the Order.
