Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Transfer/Elevation Of New Chief Justices For 13 High Courts
The Collegium has recommended elevation of 8 Judges as Chief Justices, whereas 5 Chief Justices have been transferred.
The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended in its meeting held on 16 September for the transfer/elevation of Chief Justices for 13 High Courts.
The names so proposed for new appointment are as follows –
New Appointments
1. Justice Rajesh Bindal [Parent High Court (PHC): Punjab & Haryana] appointed as the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court. At present, he is serving as the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court.
2. Justice Ranjit V. More [PHC: Bombay] appointed as the Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court. At present, he is serving as the Judge of the Meghalaya High Court.
3. Justice Satish Chandra Sharma [PHC: Madhya Pradesh] appointed as the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court. At present, he is serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.
4. Justice Prakash Srivastava appointed as the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court. At present, he is serving as the Judge of Madhya Pradesh High Court.
5. Justice R.V. Malimath [PHC: Karnataka] appointed as the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh. At present, he is serving as the Acting Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court.
6. Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi appointed as the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court. At present, he is serving as the Senior Judge at the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court.
7. Justice Aravind Kumar appointed as the Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court. At present, he is serving as the Judge of the Karnataka High Court.
8. Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra appointed as the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court. At present, he is serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Chattisgarh High Court.
Transfers
9. Justice A.A. Kureshi [PHC: Gujarat] transferred as the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court. At present, he is serving as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court.
10. Justice Indrajit Mahanty [PHC: Orissa] transferred as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court. At present, he is serving as the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court.
11. Justice Mohammad Rafiq [PHC: Rajasthan] transferred as the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court. At present, he is serving as the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court.
12. Justice Biswanath Somadder [PHC: Calcutta] transferred as the Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court. At present, he is serving as the Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court.
13. Justice A.K. Goswami [PHC: Gauhati] transferred as the Chief Justice of Chattisgarh High Court. At present, he is serving as the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court.
